My sweet neighbor Claude the Gardener brought us some fresh parsley yesterday from his enormous garden. Â It smells so good! Â The aroma is simply invigorating. Â I have never had fresh-from-the-garden parsley before. Â I always buy parsley that is dried. Â Occasionally I will buy fresh but it always goes to waste because we use a very small portion, put it in the frig, and throw it away a week later since it is wilted and ugly.
I wanted to preserve some of this fresh parsley for the future so I found a this great link on line. Â This site gives great tips on how to:
- best prolong the life of fresh herbs
- best store your fresh herbs
- preserve herbs by freezing
- preserve herbs by drying
- preserve herbs to dry by using the microwave
I remember buying fresh herbs years ago for the first time and trying to determine how much to use. Â My husband and children are not big spice eaters so usually plainer is better for us. Â However, I have tried to sneak more spice into our meals in the past few years and have been quite successful. Â I often use parsely, oregano, garlic and onion powder.
I am excited to save some of this parsley for future meals! Â And guess what? Â Just found some basil in the bunch as well! Â Eureka!
And thanks Claude the Gardener for the treat!
